Mercedes Mack
Mercedes Mack works in the Burlington School District as the Equity Education Specialist. She is a graduate of the B.S.D and Saint Michael’s College, where she received a degree in English and Sociology. During her time at Saint Michael’s she was heavily involved with the Student Global AIDS Campaign, organizing key events for her campus chapter. After completing her degree she worked in Washington D.C. as the National Field Organizer for a non-profit that aims to cancel the debts of Global South countries and free up monies for poverty reduction programs. Mercedes also graduated from Midwest Academy’s “Organizing for Social Change” (program/conference?) in 2008 & the Vermont Workers Center Solidarity School in 2010. She is active on many panels for economic and racial justice, and serves on the NextGen Committee of the United Way of Chittenden County. Growing up in Burlington, Vermont as a woman of color has formed Mercedes into an emerging young leader on anti-racism activism, social justice, and community care.
