Governor’s Heritage Award recognizes exemplary Vermonters whose work as artists or educators builds links to Vermont’s rich and diverse cultural heritage.

Mediha continues to provide untiring leadership as she has proven to be an asset and resource to all communities. Many contribute much of the Lilies success to her relentless leadership to preserve and showcase Bosnian cultural and heritage musically. These actions speak so much louder then words when building healthy diverse communities. What better sense of comfort and belonging for new American families then the Bosnian Lilies dance group as they dance and sing sharing their hopes, dreams and native cultural.

Mediha will be completing her Masters at UVM this spring.

The City Green Teams Offers New Program to Commuters!

The Burlington Sustainability Action Team (the City's green team) has launched an alternative commute pilot program for downtown city staff. This collaborative effort -- involving CarShare VT, CCTA, and CATMA -- encourages and supports city workers to drive less, and help reduce traffic and air pollution, while saving money on car maintenance and gas.

At a press conference in late June the new compressed natural gas (CNG) recycling truck was unveiled by Mayor Kiss, DPW Staff and President of J&B International of Colchester , the supplier. The purchase price of the CNG is higher than a standard diesel, but the environmental and human health benefits include lower greenhouse gas emissions, less air pollution, quieter operation and a truck powered by CNG with fuel costs less than diesel. This is the first CNG recycling truck in Vermont.
