Lea Terhune

Lea Terhune is a member of the North End Neighborhood Planning Assembly, serving at various times on the Steering, Recruiters, By-Laws, and Program committees. Lea has volunteered with many community projects. Appletree Point Historical Society, the Heineberg Senior/Community Center, AARP Livable Burlington Senior Housing Task Force, N-7 Neighborhood Coalition, The North End Mural Project, and English Springer Spaniel Rescue are a few of her favorites. She has a masters’ degree in public administration from St. Michael’s College and was the Director of Vermont Dental Care Programs for 20+ years. She also worked in Burlington schools and the Burlington Ecumenical Action Ministry sponsor of Opportunities Credit Union; statewide with Vermont Dental Care and Sierra Club; and globally with Xanadu Travel &Trading Co. Lea co-hosts a LIVE tv show on Ch17 about North End issues. She travels, bikes, practices yoga, and makes jewelry in her home studio.

The City Green Teams Offers New Program to Commuters!

The Burlington Sustainability Action Team (the City's green team) has launched an alternative commute pilot program for downtown city staff. This collaborative effort -- involving CarShare VT, CCTA, and CATMA -- encourages and supports city workers to drive less, and help reduce traffic and air pollution, while saving money on car maintenance and gas.

At a press conference in late June the new compressed natural gas (CNG) recycling truck was unveiled by Mayor Kiss, DPW Staff and President of J&B International of Colchester , the supplier. The purchase price of the CNG is higher than a standard diesel, but the environmental and human health benefits include lower greenhouse gas emissions, less air pollution, quieter operation and a truck powered by CNG with fuel costs less than diesel. This is the first CNG recycling truck in Vermont.
