THE LEGACY ACTION PLAN: The Burlington Legacy Action Plan is Burlington’s sustainability blueprint. It was adopted unanimously by the City Council in 2000 and continues to serve as Burlington’s guide for 2030. At present, the Legacy Steering Committee is working to revisit and update the plan. This process will be complete by spring 2010.

This policy was approved by Mayor Kiss and adopted in spring 2009. This work was done with the help of several key partners, including ICLEI: Local Governments for Sustainability. After the policy was approved, Dr. Kevin Lyons, Director of Purchasing, Rutgers University, visited Burlington to train City staff. See this EPP press release and Mayor Kiss’ memo to City Councillors for more information.
